Angela Grimes
Angela Grimes ([email protected]) is a 9th Grade Seminar teacher and GHS Test Coordinator. Angela is an 26-year veteran teacher in the California public school system. Her career as an educator includes teaching science, health, and art. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Science and her Master of Education from Mills College, an additional bachelor's degree in art at CSU Northridge and an Administrative Service Credential at CSU East Bay. Angela is 1 of 47,000 teachers nation wide who successfully achieved National Board certification in 2001. She is currently in her 8th year at Gateway. When she is not focused on being an educator she is focused on mixed media art, needle-arts crafts as well as historical costuming. She is a member of the Art Deco Society of California, Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild, Women's Land Army Re-enactment Group and other organizations that focus on history and the arts.
Kory O'ROurke
Kory O'Rourke ([email protected]) is beginning her 5th year as a teacher at Gateway, after 6 years previous experience teaching in public schools in Southern California. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California (Fight On!), her Master's Degree in English/Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, and holds a chair at Hogwarts School. Kory also teaches the Honors American Literature course (for Juniors) at Gateway, and coordinates Gateway's annual Project Week. She has taken several Mindfulness trainings with the Mindful Schools organization and will be pursuing a year-long teacher certification as a Mindfulness instructor. Kory is a former swimmer and water polo player and is conversationally fluent in American Sign Language and when she is not focused on being an educator, she's focused on raising her young witch (age 8) and wizard (age 6), reading, baking, cheering for the Giants, cheering against the Dodgers, and practicing her camping cuisine.
